Baby Pavey Update, week 23: Fairfax newborn photographer

Well it’s week 23 and here’s another update from Baby Center:

How your baby’s growing:

Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she’s more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby’s increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won’t faze her when she hears them outside the womb.

23-mangoOther Pavey News:

We went to our 23 week appointment yesterday and from my 20 week ultrasound the dr said she would move my due date up a few days! :) It is now ‘officially’ the 28th of December.. Though she said it the 20 week ultrasound showed my due date to be the 24th, christmas eve!!   I’ve already heard from many moms the baby will arrive when he feels like it so I’m not counting on either date, and really we aren’t going to be going anywhere other than the hospital anyhow :)

Feelings:  I’ve still being feeling great.. I’m noticing more tightness in my tummy and becoming increasingly uncomfortable in the car.. Other than that I’ve enjoyed ‘nesting’.. Justin and I have been doing countless house projects and have really had fun getting everything organized and put in their place.. Hmm since now week 24 is Tuesday I will write more then!

In business news: I have purchased many new newborn props and can not wait to try them out! If you are having a baby in the next few months, or if are are pregnant and would like a photo session be please contact me! I will only be taking a few more regular sessions, until Mid October, though I may take a few newborn sessions in November..  If you have questions please do not hesitate to ask.. Check back soon for updates about my photo session tomorrow..

Baby Pavey Update: Week 22!

From Baby Center

How your baby’s growing:

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he’s even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you’d be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he’ll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Baby Movements: I have been feeling him move a lot in the last week or two. It’s fun to be able to have little reminders throughout the day there is a little baby growing :)  So far I have not felt any baby hick ups, though I have heard that is something in the next few weeks to expect..

Bump Updates:  Someone asked me for the fist time if I am ‘expecting’.. It was fun that someone noticed, and was able to say ‘yes!”.

Baby Comments: So far the most popular has been about getting a tax credit.  Since getting a tax credit for having a December baby is a good thing I really don’t mind.. Also, having a Christmas baby is seeming to be even more exciting than I thought. For all we know we could be at the hopsital on Christmas morning. My family growing up always made birthday s BIG deal, which was really fun! Justin and I have carried on the tradition and will make sure that Baby Pavey has his birthday presents wrapped in birthday paper, NOT in Christmas paper :) I was an early January baby and my mom was always very good at making my birthday a celebration of my birthday, and not a Chrismtas afterthought..

Nursery Updates: Nothing too new this week. We bought black out curtains, this really was more for us, since the light streams right through that half of the house the majority of the day.. It has kept our upstairs much cooler.. My friend came over and gave me some good tips on how to rearrange the nursery,  just by moving a few things around we may gain more space.. Bring on the nesting! :) hahah Justin is such a good sport, he has already moved everything in our house around MULTIPLE times, and he has not complained once :) Well, only what 4 months or so to go : )

I still need to take a photo for the week, check back sometime in the next few days.. Also, I’m trying to get my office all squared away and organized so after the baby I can still take clients without being too scattered.. I have begun scheduling Senior Sessions, which is exciting! If you would like a senior photo session please let me know, i have a few slots left in the fall, otherwise we will need to schedule a spring session :)

21 Week Bump: Baby Pavey Update

Week 21! Since Justin hasn’t been in any of the recent pics I wanted to include him as well :) This is at our weekly Wegmans breakfast before doing our grocery shopping.. The last photo is Justin and my brother in law teaching Justin to use the Baby Bijorn with a teddy bear.. Hahah they didn’t know I was photographing the process.. *He really was happier than he looks, thought it was too funny not to post.. My sister Amy brought a load full of baby clothes and accessories for me to borrow! We had a lot of fun going through them and then putting them away in his closet :)

As far as business goes I have been VERY busy with photo shoots.. I am just about booked for the season, since I will start my maternity leave late october. If you still would like your family Christmas photo taken please contact me to see if I can fit you in. I would LOVE to accommodate all of last years clients, I’m just not sure how much time I will have between now and October.. Time is going so fast! I have another wonderful photo session to share with you in the next few days.  Also a newborn coming up in the next week or so!

Baby Pavey: Week 21 Update *and a yummy recipe!!

How your baby’s growing:

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she’s practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby’s eyebrows and lids are present now.

Other Updates:

Nursery: The nursery is really coming along! The castcle arrived and I have it all put up! Photos to come soon, it was tricky to assemble, though very cute. My sister brought baby clothes my nephew wore when he was born, and thankfully he was a January baby so there are some cute little buntings in the mix!

Cravings:  Our costco just started selling Lattle Freezes, (at the cafe) and for $1.52 I can have a yummy sweet treat! I picked one up on the way back from VBS today and it was my third time this week! :)   Hmm, taco bell tacoas are also a new yummy find, though I hate to admit it, for I’m sure they are not healthy right??

Bump Note: So far no strangers have commented on my bump, though its starting to become more noticeable :) Justin and I went and found a few new maternity outfits, though other than the jeans I got last week I really do not have any fall clothes yet!

That’s it for now! We may be going downtown with my sister and her family tomorrow so hopefully I can get a 21 week update photo..

Also, my fall is almost completely booked for photography, what a blessing! I have had many new bookings which is fun.

Oh and I made a really yummy dinner last night I found on my new favorite website.. If you haven’t checked out the “Pioneer Women” DO! This receipe was so easy and soooo good.

Recipe: Mexican “Flatbread” Pizza

  • 1 can Large Biscuits (non Flaky) (8 Biscuits Per Can)
  • 1 whole Can (14.5 Ounce) Refried Beans

  • 1-½ cup Grated Cheddar Cheese
  • Pico De Gallo
  • 2 cups Browned Hamburger Meat, Seasoned
  • Shredded Iceberg Lettuce
  • 3 Tablespoons Salsa
  • 5 Tablespoons Sour Cream
  • Cilantro For Garnish

Preparation Instructions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Flour work surface and roll out each biscuit until very flat. Brush very lightly with olive oil. Bake for 8 minutes, or until starting to turn golden. Remove from oven and set aside.

Mix refried beans with salsa. Heat on stovetop.

Heat up leftover ground beef.

To assemble, spread refried beans over each flatbread. Top with plenty of beef. Sprinkle shredded cheddar over the top. Return to oven for three minutes, or until melted and bubbly. Top with plenty of pico de gallo and lettuce.

Mix together salsa and sour cream. Drizzle over the top of each pizza. Garnish with cilantro. Cut into wedges and serve immediately.

The Nursery: Fairfax Newborn Photography

This is still a work in progress, though it has come leaps and bounds in the last few weeks! This is the ‘forsest’ I had mentioned before, a custom ‘mural’ i purchased on Etsy.  The theme for Baby Pavey’s nursery is Medieval/a whimsical forest.  We ordered a medieval castle ‘mural’ which will be put in between two of the white birch trees you see below. :)   Both our families have fun heritages we want to tie into the Medieval theme as well.  The Paveys trace back to France and mine to Scotland, hopefully we can track down a family crest from each side to go in the room as well..

Our Camping Adventure: Fairfax photography

IMG_0295We just got back from a wonderful camping tritp our dear friends, in the Shenandoah National Park..  Here is a quick 20 week update photo. My husband is turning out to be quite the photographer :) More photos to come soon..

Baby Pavey Update It’s A…..: Week 20 (half way!)

It’s a ….BOY!!

boyThese are a few of his new things :) The turtle shoes from Grandma and the little running shoes from one of my sisters.. The alligator outfit is one of my new favorite baby lines called Zutano, check them out HERE.. Justin and I bought this ‘going home outfit’ when we were in Cannon Beach. We wanted to make sure he had some red and white since he is supposed to be a Christmas baby. :)

And now for the update for the 20 week update: From Baby Center

How your baby’s growing:

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He’s also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby’s legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the “crown to rump” measurement. After 20 weeks, he’s measured from head to toe.)

He’s swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He’s also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you’ll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

20-bananaOther Updates:

Nursery: It’s coming along well! We have picked a ‘theme’ which is a cross between Medieval and a Enchanted forest.. We purchased on Etsy some really fun ‘wall decor’. I will have to post photos to really explain it well. So far we both love it, though it was pretty tedious to put up.. The trees are over 5 feet tall, and there are over a 100 little leaves I am putting on one at a time.. Photos to come soon!

Baby: Our 20 week overall ultrasound was yesterday which was great!  Overall everything seemed to be looking good, the technician said he was right on track. The funny part was he was all curled up in a ball sleeping.  She had me try and jump around to wake him up so she could measure him, though really nothing worked.  Thankfully her prodding on my tummy was enough for him to change positions a few times and to move his hands from in front of his face to over his ears, so cute..   We have the name all picked out, though we have to leave a few surprises until December 30th!

Belly: Well it is becoming more apparent there is a little baby in there. Last night Justin and I went again to the local maternity store near us and found some cute jeans and shorts. I have a girlfriend who lent me alot of clothes which has been so helpful!  The pants/shorts are the main thing right now. It’s been SOOOO hot here I have had to stay pretty much inside.. *Other than when we are running errands and when I have photo sessions. .

Cravings: Nothing too new. We bought an AMAZING rasberry/blackberry ice cream which Justin has made some yummy shakes with.  He has been very sweet to indluge me in my love of fries as well :) hahaha this baby will really like potatoes..

Well that’s it for now. I need to finish my nursery project so I can post it!

Baby Pavey: Week 19
